The Last of Us - Male Clicker ZBrush Study

Here is my take of a Male Clicker from The Last of Us. I focused on purely the headshot, and experimented around with individual fungal growth of the face.

I noticed the original designs had the main fungal growth protruding from out the skull - splitting the man's two front teeth apart. This creates an almost explosive effect of the face. Furthermore, I created the effect of more fungus growing out of areas of the body (such as his back, neck, and face), forming almost like layered coral. There are also large tendril-like fungal growth around the body. He has significant hair loss due to said growth and lack of upkeep.

As a little bit of storytelling, there is an old bite mark on his left shoulder and blood stains around his mouth and neck. There are also small scars and wounds all over his body. This tells the story of a man who has been fighting for a long time, bitten by an infected, and then eventually became a clicker.

The painting was completed with Polypaint - something I hadn't really used before, and wanted to experiment around with. The entire sculpt was completed using ZBrush.
